Will BlizzCon return in 2023? Blizzard director responds

The company hopes that the legendary convention will be an in-person event

BlizzCon, the emblematic convention that celebrates video games developed by Blizzard Entertainment, has been inactive for a few years. As expected, fans question the event's future, and some believe the event will never return. Fortunately, the company is already working on the triumphant return of the legendary community event.

BLIZZCON 2023 COULD BE A REALITY

During a recent chat with the Los Angeles Times portal, Mike Ybarra, current director of Blizzard, assured us that the company is committed to holding a new edition of the popular annual convention next year. Unfortunately, he didn't reveal more details about it like a possible date, etc.

“As we previously announced, we're taking a break from BlizzCon while we reimagine it for the future, but we want to return to hosting an in-person event with the community. We recently hired a new leader, April McKee, who is working hard on that plan, and we are committed to bringing BlizzCon back in 2023."

The last face-to-face edition of the Blizzard Entertainment convention took place in 2019. The 2020 edition was canceled due to the health emergency caused by the spread of COVID-19 around the world, while last year, a digital event was baptized as BlizzConLine. Finally, the event will be conspicuous by its absence this year due to the recent harassment and abuse scandals that have engulfed the company.

Of course, it remains to be seen how the recent acquisition by Microsoft will affect the development of the symbolic community event. It will also be interesting to find out if Blizzard will address allegations of harassment and inappropriate conduct during the conferences.

But tell us, would you like to see the return of BlizzCon? Let us read you in the comments.
