Rumour: Activision is working on a free-to-play Crash Bandicoot multiplayer game

Can you imagine all the possibilities?

Free-to-play games are currently a good bet, as long as they are well managed. Nothing like a successful game that ends up giving your company millions of players and dollars…

That is why according to this rumour one of the biggest companies in the industry is about to follow the trend, and yes as you read in the title we are talking about Activision-Blizzard which allegedly is developing a free-to-play Crash Bandicoot game.

How do we know this?

Moments ago, the Xbox Two podcast hosted by Jez Corden and Rand Al Thor (via Idle Sloth on Twitter), revealed important information about the Crash project that seems to be already in the works. According to Corden, the company is working on a free-to-play brawler-style online multiplayer game featuring Crash Bandicoot characters.

He also noted that the project is codenamed Project Lava and could coincide with the clues Toys for Bob has dropped about the upcoming announcement of its new project outside Call of Duty.

Brawler like Smash Bros?

Technically there are not many brawler games, so it is natural to think that this project may be something like Super Smash Bros. and MultiVersus, however seems like this game will take another direction.

According to Corden, what he has seen so far can be interpreted as a proposal that takes elements from games like Plants Vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare and Bleeding Edge. Again, it only takes elements as he assures that the game will bet on something new. In this regard, Project Lava would have combat options, but the main objective will be the accumulation of points or meet specific objectives in order to win.

Remember, leaks and rumours not always see the light no matter how reliable the source is, so don’t get too excited yet!
