Nintendo is known for protecting its characters very well, and now we have news related to the character of Kirby: a fan has decided to create a card game using the image of Chef Kawasaki, a well-known character from the Nintendo saga.
So far, it doesn't sound bad until you find out that the images of those cards showed the character with provocative outfits and positions. These cards were manufactured into physical and digital decks to be sold through an online Japanese art market called Booth.
It is worth mentioning that this fanmade work was created by the KWSK Karuta group, who had been successfully selling the cards for a few days until the case reached HAL Laboratory since the sale and distribution were stopped for them.
An excellent example is a Karuta card game called Chef Kawasaki's Micro Bikini Karuta, which featured the character in a daring image.
Here you can see only a part, for obvious reasons, the image was cut:
“We have just received notice from Hull Research Institute Co., Ltd. about canceling Chef Kawasaki's Micro Bikini Karuta exhibit so that we will stop distribution. Thanks to everyone who enjoyed it. And, HAL Laboratory, we are very sorry for the inconvenience,” says the statement from the group behind the card game.
It's important to note that it's not uncommon for Nintendo to shut down any unofficial work on one of its franchises, though since the cards also had a digital version, they'll now be tough to get rid of, as can be seen on Twitter.
