In early December, on the stage of The Game Awards, 2022 Riot Games won all the Esport awards confirming it as the brand to beat for the quality of competitive events offered on a global scale. However, another fact emerged to confirm its success: VALORANT is the most-watched FPS on Twitch 2022.

Charts don't lie

According to data compiled by Streams Charts, the Riot Games' home shooter has narrowly surpassed 1.1 billion total hours watched from the beginning of January through Dec. 18-that's nearly double the number of total hours watched compared to Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Valve's competitive FPS, which stopped at 684 million total hours watched. Despite these figures, CS:GO remains at the top of the chart by peak viewership, reaching 1.6 million viewers during the last major.

This latest figure reaffirms Counter-Strike: Global Offensive as one of the benchmark FPSs ten years after its launch, capable of winning over new users and keeping the "old school" loyal. VALORANT is undoubtedly the new rival, although not much time has passed since its market debut. Driving the two titles on the purple streaming platform in 2022 were two events: IEM Rio Major and Champions Istanbul 2022.

Looking at the rest of the ranking, Apex Legends is in the third position, and Fortnite is fourth. They are followed, in order, by COD: Warzone, Escape From Tarkov, Rust, Overwatch 2, PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six: Siege.
