What will happen to Forza?

Seems like a good number of developers are leaving Microsoft’s Playground Games in order to fund their very own studio, however, this may alarm some people as this team of people is responsible for the beloved franchise Forza Horizon. According to GamesIndustry.Biz, Creative Director Mike Brown and other key developers have formed their very own studio Maverick Games.

And the plans are…

Maverick Games was formed in other to offer a new set of experiences, actually, they are already working on their very first project, a premium open-world game for console and PC.

But you may be wondering who are these key developers that joined this venture; well, we are talking about executive producer Tom Butcher, CTO Matt Craven, content director Gareth Harwood and audio director Fraser Strachan.

They also bring people from other companies like Art Director Ben Penrose from Sharkmob, and UX/UI Director Elly Marshall, following her role as experience design director at EA.

In Brown's own words: “We are going to build a team where we really encourage them to take creative risks, to try new things, and really celebrates that as part of our culture.”

But… what will happen to Forza?

Now that key people leave Playground Games what will happen to Forza Horizon, well, is clear that the new team will be extremely different, however, there is still a long path ahead of us for the next entry of the franchise.
