GameStop continues to struggle for survival after years of stumbling and poor results. Apparently, the situation has not improved at all, as a store manager made a video to report layoffs and a lack of customers in some branches.

Through her TikTok account, redsonjattv spoke about the difficult situation of the store chain. Her forecasts are not positive, as she assured that the branch in his hands receives few customers. She also took the opportunity to criticize some of GameStop's practices.

MANAGER PREDICTS DARKER DAYS FOR GAMESTOP

In her TikTok video, redsonjattv assures that no one enters the GameStop branch she is in charge of, that everything is in liquidation, and that the company has already started corporate layoffs. Her message disappointed many gamers, who lamented the current state of the retail chain.

Former employees of the company stated that it is painful to see how the video game store business is going, while fans explained the reasons why they no longer go to GameStop. Some of them stated that the games are simply too expensive or that the store often offers too little money for products they want to sell.

Likewise, there are gamers who believe GameStop should change its approach. "Just kinda wish it was less of a merch store and more of a GAME store," stated one gamer.

Speaking to Daily Dot, the manager elaborated on the issue and stated that the situation improved a bit during the holiday season. However, the store was practically empty before and after the holiday season.

Despite this, she clarified that her branch will not close, at least for now. She criticized GameStop for requiring employees to continue taking presales for upcoming games at branches that are close to closing for good. "It’s a little disgusting on corporate’s part," redsonjattv stated.

She revealed that GameStop has laid off technical support teams, customer service teams, and more than 50 managers. For such reason, she believes it will all end someday, but she will strive to have her own video game store in the future as she loves his job.

"Corporate has slowly killed this company over the years (...) I love selling games and talking to customers about gaming. It’s my passion. However, I refuse to lie to customers and tell them they need to have xyz or tell them they need to have the membership card to get price-matching," added redsonjattv.

Clearly, there is a wide range of opinions about GameStop's situation. And it is somewhat surprising to learn that after many years it is still going strong knowing the case of Blockbuster, and although the company seems to be doing decently for the moment, it may have its days numbered.
