Overwatch has received a ton of skins for its characters. Some are harder to get, but most are still available in the store or Heroes Gallery. Pink Mercy is a rare and exclusive skin. Will the skin return in the future?
In case you don't know, Pink Mercy is a skin that debuted in 2018 as part of a charity campaign. Specifically, users could get it if they donated $15 to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation. This non-profit organization researches to develop treatments and find a cure for breast cancer.
The skin was available for a limited time, with all proceeds going to the foundation. According to reports, Blizzard Entertainment raised more than $12.7 million at that time with the support of players, which means that the charity campaign was a complete success. Since then, the skin hasn’t returned; it is unknown if it ever will.
WILL PINK MERCY BE RETURNING TO OVERWATCH 2 AS A PRIME GAMING REWARD?
While many players want the Pink Mercy outfit to return, they hope it does as part of a new charity campaign. For that reason, the community criticized Blizzard this week when a video suggested the skin might be back as a reward for Amazon Prime subscribers.
What happens is that the Prime Gaming account on Twitter shared a clip promoting the new Overwatch 2 rewards that subscribers will receive. At one point in the footage, Mercy's appearance is briefly observed, leading the community to believe she will return.
Prime Gaming's new bundle will only give away one epic outfit for Junkrat, so why the Mercy skin was shown is still being determined. Either way, the community expressed their displeasure, so Amazon had to delete the video after backlash from fans.
It is possible that Blizzard intended to offer this charity outfit in a future Prime Gaming bundle. If so, you may back off and reconsider your plans.
But tell us, what do you think of this situation? Do you think the community overreacted? Would it be in bad taste to give away the skin to charity? Let us read.
Overwatch 2 is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
