For some time, The Pokémon Company has been preparing a new way to play Pokémon TCG online, but we didn't know when it would be available until now. If you have pending unopened packs or other things to do with Pokémon TCG Online, you must hurry because it already has a closure date.
As we told you, Pokémon TCG Live will replace Pokémon TCG Online. In 2021, we learned about the plans for this new version, which will include gameplay improvements and even improvements to packs and cards. However, until now, The Pokémon Company has revealed when it will leave its beta phase to officially debut.
According to the details, the current official version, Pokémon TCG Online, will no longer be available on the App Store, Google Play, PC, and Mac from June 5th, 2023, at 9:00 AM (Pacific Time), at which time it will also stop working. The title will then be replaced by Pokémon TCG Live, whose final version will be available starting June 8th.
WILL I LOSE MY POKÉMON TCG ONLINE COLLECTION WHEN SWITCHING TO POKÉMON TCG LIVE?
We remind you that players of the old version can migrate their cards from the latest expansions to the new version. All they need to do is log in to the Beta version of Pokémon TCG Live to make the change. There is currently no deadline for this migration, so it should be possible to keep the content even if you log in to Pokémon TCG Live after the closure of Pokémon TCG Online.
However, it is important to consider that the card and pack economy in Pokémon TCG Live will be different. For example, packs in the new version offer 5 cards instead of the 10 in Pokémon TCG Online.
IS IT BETTER TO OPEN PACKS IN POKÉMON TCG ONLINE OR POKÉMON TCG LIVE?
Unopened virtual packs or products in Pokémon TCG Online cannot be preserved in Pokémon TCG Live but will become Crystals. The maximum amount of Crystals that will be offered will be 12,400 for 125 or more unopened products. It is not known for sure how much value this will represent in the new economy of Pokémon TCG Live.
Those who decide to open their packs in Pokémon TCG Online or Pokémon TCG Live should take into account that it will only be possible to have 4 copies of the same card in Pokémon TCG Live. The additional cards will become a game resource called Dust. Ultimately, the decision is up to the user.
It should also be noted that no more content will be added to Pokémon TCG Online, so cards with product codes up to the Crown Zenith collection will be compatible with this title, and later codes will only be compatible with Pokémon TCG Live.
