Since late last year, Elon Musk asked the community if they wanted him to step down as the CEO of Twitter. The response was affirmative, and while it seemed that Musk would not let go of his expensive new toy, he has now announced that he is preparing to say goodbye to his current role at Twitter.

Through Twitter, Elon Musk revealed that he will be stepping down as CEO of X, the new name for Twitter's parent company. A woman whose identity has not yet been revealed will replace him. The change is expected to take place in approximately 6 weeks.

Note: This does not mean that Elon Musk will completely step away from Twitter. In addition to being the owner of the social network, he will also take on the roles of executive chairman and chief technology officer. Thus, he will oversee the company and its product and software development.

"Excited to announce I’ve hired a new CEO for X/Twitter. She will start in a few weeks.

My role as CEO will be focused on product, software and operations", said Musk.

Apparently, the markets reacted positively to this news. We say this because after the announcement, Tesla's shares, Musk's automotive company, increased in value by just over 2%. Remember that its value had decreased considerably since Musk took over Twitter as some shareholders considered that the magnate was too distracted with the social network.

Undoubtedly, it will be interesting to see the direction that Twitter will take in this new era of the Musk era. Let's remember that the time of the owner of Tesla and SpaceX on the social network has been controversial with decisions such as removing verification from celebrities and organizations and linking the blue checkmark to a subscription.

And you, do you think this change will be positive for Twitter?
