Microsoft confirmed recent reports: China's State Administration of Market Regulation (SAMR) has already approved the purchase of Activision Blizzard. The regulator did not raise any objections or conditions to the deal, so Microsoft is more than satisfied with its position.
Through a spokesperson, the company welcomed the Chinese regulator's decision, as it represents an important step for the deal along with the clearance from the European Commission and Japan's Fair Trade Commission. Microsoft believes this will benefit gamers around the world, so it welcomed it. On the other hand, he confirmed that the agreement has been approved in total by 37 countries.
"China's unconditional clearance of our acquisition of Activision Blizzard follows clearance decisions from jurisdictions such as the European Union and Japan, bringing the total to 37 countries representing more than two billion people. The acquisition combined with our recent commitments to the European Commission will empower consumers worldwide to play more games on more devices." said Microsoft.
Which countries have already approved the Activision Blizzard buyout?
Florian Mueller, founder of FOSS Patents, spoke about the approval of the buyout in China and counted in total 38 countries that have approved the deal. He noted that the population of all of them is 35 times larger than that of the UK. Below is the list of countries that have already given the green light to the acquisition:
