Today is a sad day for video gamers and all animal lovers. This morning, the death of Einstein Barnes, the blue heeler breed dog who gained worldwide fame for being responsible for playing Cain in Red Dead Redemption 2, was reported.

The sad news was revealed by Jason Barnes, an animator of Red Dead Redemption 2 and the person who gave Einstein a home during most of his 13 years of life. In a Instagram post, the Rockstar Games member bid farewell to his dog, taking the opportunity to remember all the love he gave him for over a decade.

"Einstein truly was one of a kind. From the moment we met, we formed a deep bond, and it was clear we were destined to share endless adventures together.

Although our time together has come to an end, your memory will live on forever. Red Dead Redemption 2 may have immortalized you as Cain, but it's the memories we created together that will truly keep your spirit alive. The lessons you taught me about loyalty, love, and living life to the fullest will never be forgotten," Jason Barnes wrote in his farewell message to Einstein.

According to Barnes, as he told PC Gamer, Einstein came into his life 13 years ago when he was just a puppy. The animator adopted him from a dog shelter and named him Einstein after Cowboy Bebop and Back to the Future.

The reason why Einstein ended up playing Cain in Red Dead Redemption 2 was that Barnes brought him to the office. There, he became a beloved pet of much of the Rockstar Games staff. Many times, Einstein accompanied Jason to motion capture sessions, and they discovered that he had acting skills, so they included him in the western.

It started with a few tests and next thing we knew, he was cast as Cain. I got to work with him on set as his trainer which is such a fond memory. We did some clever stage offset [filming angle] and such to get the stunt of Micah kicking him as well as the ones with Micah chasing him off. He was obsessed with lasers so we often used those to get him to run a specific direction", Barnes said-
