Dark Souls will never sound the same again; the composer of the franchise and ELDEN RING departs FromSoftware

FromSoftware games are well-known for their excellent design and high difficulty, but it is impossible to deny that among their finest elements lies their music. This is why many will be saddened to learn that a composer who worked on great gems of the company decided to leave FromSoftware.

Yuka Kitamura announced on Twitter that, after more than a decade with FromSoftware, she made the decision to depart from the studio. During this time, Kitamura worked on 6 releases of the Japanese studio.

It's worth mentioning that this won't be the last time we hear about Yuka Kitamura in the world of video games. The composer plans to remain in the industry but as a contractor. Thus, it is possible that we will hear her work again in games from FromSoftware and other companies.

"Thank you all for your continuous support. Today, I have an announcement to make: I decided to leave FromSoftware, the company I worked for, and start as a freelance composer from August," Kitamura said on Twitter.

Kitamura joined FromSoftware in 2012 and since then composed music for the company's most important projects. Her first game with the Japanese studio was Armored Core: Verdict Day, but she also collaborated on Dark Souls II, Bloodborne, Dark Souls III, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and ELDEN RING. It's worth noting that it seems Kitamura did not work on Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon.
