At the end of July, Sony released a major update for PlayStation 5 in Beta. The good news is that the update is finally available to all console users, so as of today gamers have access to exciting new features.
Sony took advantage of the announcement to detail each new feature and to announce that PS Remote Play is now compatible with more Android devices. Below, we share with you all the details.
What's new in the PS5 update?
The update will allow you to have more storage space on your console, as it enables support for M.2 SSD drives up to 8 TB. So now you can have up to twice as much space to have your favorite games always available.
Sony also worked on new accessibility features, so it is now possible to use a second controller to assist another player. This means that 2 controllers can be used to operate the same console, just as if they were one. This option can be used to play collaboratively or to help someone in need.
Another very interesting addition is Dolby Atmos support. Gamers will be able to take advantage of this support if they have compatible sound bars, TVs or cinema systems and thus have a better audio experience thanks to the potential of Tempest 3D AudioTech.
As for social features, Sony updated the group user interface, enabled a screen-sharing preview, made it easier to access friends' sessions and now allows you to view your tournament history in a special tile.
Finally, the update allows you to disable or adjust the volume of the console's power-on sound and take advantage of DualSense, DualSense Edge and PS VR2 haptic features in the menus.
Sony improved PS Remote Play
Starting today, the PS Remote Play feature for streaming PS5 and PS4 games is available on devices running Android TV OS 12. Specifically, it will be available for use on the BRAVIA XR model A95L and the Chromecast with Google TV (4K model).
To use it in these places it will be enough to search for and download the PS Remote Play application. With this, the feature is now available on smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android), computers and Macs, as well as TVs.
