In mid-2023, Scott Cawthon posted on the subreddit of Five Nights at Freddy's to thank fans who wished him a happy birthday. He also took the opportunity to reveal that he was able to watch the first cut of the live-action adaptation.
"I'm an older man; I can't believe it's been almost 10 years since FNAF! But again, thanks to everyone. I was able to see the first cut of the movie a couple of days ago, and I think it turned out amazing. I'm very excited for everyone to see it in October!" the creator exclaimed.
Since the version Scott Cawthon saw belongs to an early cut, there is a possibility that the material shown in theaters starting from October may be slightly different. Either way, it's a good sign that the franchise's creator liked this production.
Although the creator distanced himself from the franchise after a controversy he was involved in, he still comments on the new projects. For example, he expressed his disappointment when a leak revealed the first official trailer of the movie.
