Now it's the turn of the Five Nights at Freddy's movie to try to captivate fans of the source material and a new audience. Did it meet expectations? Everyone will have their own opinion on the matter, but this is what the creator of the games, Scott Cawthon, thinks.
In addition to overseeing the project, the creative mind behind the original franchise's games served as a producer and writer in the adaptation directed by Emma Tammi. Therefore, he was very involved in the making of this project and provided a lot of feedback.
Scott Cawthon's Opinion on the Five Nights at Freddy's Adaptation
In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Jason Blum, the founder and director of Blumhouse Productions, talked about the challenges they had to overcome to bring this feature film to fruition, a project that has been in the works since 2015.
At one point, the producer acknowledges the importance of collaborating with the game's creator and says that the independent developer is very pleased with the final result.
"Scott is very happy with the movie. He was intimately involved in every step of the film. There were no surprises when he saw it, and I think he's very happy with the movie. He's very proud of it. And I think it's a real tribute to Emma, who really was able to turn the game into a fantastic movie that Scott gave his stamp of approval to, which was a very complicated job," said Jason Blum.
These statements will come as no surprise to few people. This is because Scott Cawthon expressed his enthusiasm for the project on several occasions. In mid-2023, he teased that he had seen the first cut of the film and said it was incredible. Furthermore, director Emma Tammi stated that the creative mind enjoyed the movie.
Why Did Blumhouse Productions Make the Five Nights at Freddy's Movie?
In another part of the interview, Jason Blum explains that making this feature film required a lot of persistence and overcoming many challenges. Despite these difficulties, he kept at it because he enjoys challenges.
"Five Nights at Freddy's is a very Blumhouse game. I mean, the theme, the story, and the mythology definitely share a lot of DNA with many of the movies and TV shows we've done. So, creatively, it fit perfectly (...) So I thought it would be fun to give it a try. It took longer than I thought, but we got there," highlighted Jason Blum.
