Occasionally, some games don't get the reception that was expected, forcing their developers to shut them down for good. Unfortunately this is the case of a recent project from SEGA and Yoko Taro, creative behind Drakengard and NieR.

We are referring to 404 GAME RE:SET, a title for mobile devices that debuted last April 25. The company and the creative confirmed that the project's days are numbered, as it will close at the beginning of 2024, that is, less than 1 year after its debut.

Through a brief statement, SEGA informed that the title will close its servers on January 5, 2024. The company analyzed the state of the game and came to the conclusion that it will be complicated to support it in the future, so it decided to abandon it.

"We have come to the conclusion that it will be difficult to provide users with satisfactory service in the future, so we have decided to end the service," SEGA commented.

According to details, 404 GAME RE:SET will continue to receive updates, new characters, more collectibles, events and story elements until it closes its doors. After that, it will be impossible to enjoy it with all its features and modes.

At the end of next month, SEGA will allow players to get refunds for in-app purchases. It also guaranteed that the title will still be available after the closure, as players will still be able to enjoy some features offline.

404 GAME RE:SET caught the attention of gamers for being in the hands of Taro and bringing together various characters from SEGA, Bandai Namco and Taito. The RPG with gacha elements was initially well received, but apparently did not live up to expectations.
