Fortunately, HBO shared new news for all those waiting for the new episodes. During a press conference, Casey Bloys, CEO of the company, confirmed that Season 2 will finally go into production soon.

While Season 2 of the series was confirmed quite some time ago and there was already progress, production was put on hold as the scripts were not quite finalized.
Reports claim that actors even read dialogue taken directly from The Last of Us: Part II before completely pausing production due to the impacts of the strike. Fortunately, things have changed in recent weeks and the outlook is more encouraging for the series.
Casey Bloys reported that Season 2 will go into production as such in early 2024. The executive confirmed that indeed the actors and writers strike impacted the production of the series.
While for now there is no confirmed date for its premiere, it is a fact that it will be delayed and arrive later than originally planned by HBO. The news may be discouraging for some fans, but it is also a good sign that production will resume in a few months.
That said, this is bittersweet news for fans, who are dying to know the rest of Ellie and Joel's story. For now, Craig Mazin, in charge of the series, has not commented on the matter.
