Luigi is usually labeled as the second fiddle in the Super Mario series, as the fame of his brother, Mario, constantly overshadows him to the point of leaving him out of several games. One of them is Super Mario 64, but originally, it wasn't supposed to be that way, and fans saw for the first time how the two were going to appear together in the title.
The YouTube channel 【只今ゲーム中チャンネル】 uploaded a new video restored from a VHS tape that shows how the legendary event Space World 1995 was experienced, which took place in Japan and was officially organized by Nintendo.

This is how Luigi looked in Super Mario 64
There are already other video records of that event, but what caught attention is that in the video we're talking about, it's possible to see Luigi. This is relevant because the presence of this character in the title was the subject of urban legends and inventions like supposed codes or tricks that unlocked him in the game, all a lie, of course.
The sequence is super short, but it's possible to see Luigi doing somersaults in the air next to an object with such low resolution that it's impossible to identify and in an environment that looks like a "room made of LEGO blocks," as Nintendo's creative Shigeru Miyamoto described it in a 1996 interview (via Video Games Chronicle). The space would allow both characters to run and jump, just as seen in the video.

It's the first time that many fans see Luigi's 3D model officially, not counting the infamous Nintendo Gigaleak of 2018 that went viral in 2020.
What is Luigi doing in this version of Super Mario 64, but not in the commercial one? Well, you should know that Super Mario 64, indeed, would have featured Luigi, who could be controlled by a second player thanks to a multiplayer mode.
Unfortunately, the mode had to be canceled in the last year of development due to a memory shortage on the Nintendo 64.
