Naoki Yoshida revealed first details of a port of the JRPG

Final Fantasy XVI was one of the big exclusive releases for PlayStation 5 in 2023. It is a fact that fans of the franchise also want to enjoy it on other platforms. The good news is that this will be possible sooner than many think.

Naoki Yoshida, director of the title, confirmed that a PC port of the JRPG is in an important stage of development. He also revealed that they are preparing a demo to let players know if their current computer can run the title smoothly.

During an interview with Game Informer, the Japanese creative revealed that the PC version of Final Fantasy XVI is still in active development. It is currently in the final stages of optimization. Yoshida excited gamers waiting for the port, as he assured that news about its release will come in a few months.

However, he clarified that for now they cannot reveal a release date or window, as they are still working on some technical details. He explained that players will most likely require good equipment to enjoy the JRPG as it should be.

"We’re trying to figure out the final stages of optimization right now. When we can release the PC version might be dependent on that—the system requirements and specifications for PC that players will need, so we’re trying to figure that out. Naturally, [the PC specifications] are looking to be somewhat high", Yoshida stated.

In order for players not to worry about whether their PC will be able to handle the game, Square Enix promised a demo. The demo version also has no release date, but Yoshida made it clear that it won't be too long in coming.

“We’re looking to release a demo for the PC version as well. Again, we can’t really talk about too much in terms of details of when it’s going to come out—I think in a little bit more time we’ll be in a better place to announce things. But one thing’s for sure: It won’t be too distant in the future; it won’t be a year, it won’t be two years, it will probably be shorter than that," the developer concluded.
