Konami prepared various projects to revive Silent Hill. The return of the franchise has not been as fans expected, as several releases have disappointed them with their approach to the horror saga. In 2023, the studio released Silent Hill: Ascension, which moved away from video games to offer an interactive series brought to life by Genvid Entertainment, Behaviour Interactive, and Bad Robot Games.

The production received harsh criticism for its concept and other aspects, such as its infamous season pass. As a result, it became one of the most criticized releases of 2023. Despite this, the series has just won a prestigious award, as it was recognized with an Emmy.

The goal of Silent Hill: Ascension was to bring Konami’s iconic franchise to a new format and audience. For this reason, it was planned as an interactive series where players could vote to decide how the story would unfold.

The series aired from October 31, 2023, to July 15, 2024. It was the subject of much criticism and controversy, as viewers were unhappy with its $19.99 USD season pass and its content.

Despite this, it is now known that the series won the Creative Arts Emmy Award for Outstanding Innovation in Emerging Media Programming. Jacob Navok, CEO of Genvid Entertainment, celebrated the award and thanked everyone involved for their work.

"This award is a testament to the dedication of team members from around the world who worked on the project for years: the more than 300 writers, artists, developers, quality assurance testers, motion capture performers, voice actors, and localization editors who made the interactive series Silent Hill: Ascension possible,” the executive stated on social media.

Some players took the opportunity to remind the companies that they were not satisfied with the project and its approach to Silent Hill. On the other hand, there are also fans who were delighted with the series and asked Navok for a Season 2.
