Some games can't withstand the test of time, leading their creators to shut them down. This trend is becoming more common as the lineup of live-service titles grows steadily, creating fierce competition. Unfortunately, this has taken a toll on a game from Xbox and Bethesda, which now has its days numbered.

It’s sad news for fans of The Elder Scrolls, as in just a few weeks, a title from the franchise will no longer be accessible. The shutdown is scheduled for early 2025, meaning there’s still some time left to play and experience its universe.

The game in question is The Elder Scrolls: Legends, a card game that debuted in 2017. It captured the attention of fans of both the franchise and card games, fostering an active community and new content updates for several years.

However, the title gradually faded into obscurity and seemingly didn’t meet Bethesda’s expectations. This prompted the studio to halt updates with new improvements and content back in 2019. Since then, no new content has been released for The Elder Scrolls: Legends.

The company has now decided to officially move on from this project, announcing its permanent shutdown. Its servers will go offline on January 30, 2025. Starting on that date, it will no longer be possible to play the card game on PC or mobile devices.

The Elder Scrolls: Legends has already been removed from Steam, so it’s no longer available for download on PC. According to reports, it is still accessible on mobile devices in some regions, allowing a few fans to continue enjoying it for a few more months.

“From now until January 30, 2025, all items in the store and entry into in-game events will be available for one gold each, so you can enjoy all the content Legends has to offer,” Bethesda commented.

Currently, Bethesda’s popular franchise includes mobile games like The Elder Scrolls: Castles and The Elder Scrolls: Blades. Additionally, The Elder Scrolls Online remains active with new content, and The Elder Scrolls VI is in development.
