Switch 2: Nintendo makes major promise about its new console involving Microsoft, Epic Games, FromSoftware, and more studios

The company is gearing up in a big way for the launch of its next generation

It’s a fact that, in the coming months, Nintendo will reveal the Switch 2. Expectations are high for what this next-generation console will offer, and everything indicates that the company is preparing to continue its successful streak. Recently, it confirmed that the system will be backward compatible with all Switch games, which is undoubtedly excellent news.

Now we know that Nintendo is also working to ensure that Switch 2 will receive many games throughout its lifecycle. During its latest financial report, the company emphasized that over the years it has strengthened its alliances with key partners, who have supported the Switch.

It’s expected that all these studios will also be interested in bringing their games to Switch 2, as Nintendo reiterated its commitment to strengthening ties. If everything goes well, the new console could have the best third-party catalog in the brand's history.

Over the generations, Nintendo consoles have been known for offering attractive first-party content, which is the main reason players buy their hardware. Of course, third-party games are present, but not with the same presence as on other consoles.

For a time, especially in the Wii U generation, Nintendo suffered from a lack of support from major partners, resulting in a very limited third-party catalog. Things improved significantly thanks to the success of the Switch, but even so, the hybrid system’s limited potential has prevented important third-party games from reaching the brand’s fans.

Everything indicates that things will be different with the Switch 2, a system that will have the support of even more companies. In its latest financial report, Nintendo revealed that it has worked to improve its relationship with various developers and publishers throughout this generation.

"Thanks to these efforts, our partnerships with software publishers are now stronger than ever"

It emphasizes that it has made significant improvements in this area thanks to initiatives to support developers, provide more accessible development kits, and other tools for studios interested in their consoles.

"Thanks to these efforts, our partnerships with software publishers are now stronger than ever (...) As a result, about half of the software units sold since the fiscal year ended March 2021 are titles released by other software publishers," the company commented ahead of the Switch 2 reveal.

Nintendo showcased a slide highlighting prominent partners like Microsoft, SEGA, ATLUS, Epic Games, FromSoftware, Bandai Namco, Konami, Electronic Arts, Ubisoft, Square Enix, Capcom, and many other companies that will surely be interested in the new console.
