Subscription services continually adjust their business models to remain profitable and provide quality content to users for the long term. Inevitably, these types of platforms often raise their prices, but companies sometimes find alternative ways to avoid cost increases.

In an official statement, Nvidia announced significant changes to GeForce Now, its cloud gaming service. To avoid increasing prices, it will limit the number of monthly hours users can play on the platform starting next year. If players exceed the new limit, they will need to pay an additional fee to continue enjoying the benefits of GeForce Now and its various subscription plans.

In its statement, Nvidia announced that GeForce Now users will have a limit of 100 hours of gameplay per month starting early next year. This will affect users of the Performance and Ultimate memberships, but there will be no changes in costs.

The company explained that this measure will allow them to continue providing high quality, speed, and shorter wait times. Additionally, it stated that the 100-hour limit was chosen based on user gaming metrics, so it considers the community’s gaming habits.

Users who exceed this limit will need to pay an additional fee to get another 15 hours of gameplay. The cost will be $2.99 USD for the Performance plan and $5.99 USD for the Ultimate plan.

Fortunately, players who do not use their 100 monthly hours can roll over up to 15 hours. These hours will transfer automatically to the following month, allowing users to accumulate up to 115 hours of gameplay per month.

Moreover, Nvidia will provide a benefit for players with an active paid subscription or those who subscribe to the service before January 31. For them, the hour limit will not apply until January 2026.

Free membership users will not be affected by this restriction, as this mode only offers 1 hour of gameplay per session. Lastly, members with a Founders plan will continue to enjoy unlimited gameplay for life; however, if they upgrade to Ultimate, they will be subject to the new policy like the rest of the community.

What is Nvidia GeForce Now?

In case you don’t know, GeForce Now is Nvidia’s cloud gaming service that lets you enjoy your game collection with excellent performance without needing a high-end computer. This eliminates the hardware barrier, allowing even the most modest machines to run demanding games at competitive resolutions and frame rates.

Using Nvidia’s technology, the service provides a gaming experience with ray tracing, DLSS (Deep Learning Super Sampling), HDR, and more. Currently, the Ultimate subscription allows users to enjoy PC games in 4K at 120 fps or 1080p at 240 fps.
